Trudy and I are heading to Buffalo this weekend for a symposium on "Language & Encoding." Among the participants are John Cayley, Alex Galloway, Lev Manovich, and Loss Pequeño Glazier. I'll most definitely be blogging in response to it.

Funny how things circle back around (watch for a trackback to this on that). Found a link to your blog from jill/txt, who linked to me after I linked to her. (Humming Joni Mitchell's Circle Game in my head...)
I'm in Rochester, too, just down the road at RIT. My mother teaches poetics at RIT, and is (was, I guess, now that's it's Saturday night) at the same symposium. I was sorely tempted, but weekends are kid time.
Posted by: liz lawley on November 9, 2002 09:44 PMYour circle gets odder and odder: I ate lunch with your mother. :) How's that for small world?
As for the symposium, there were some great moments and some not-so-great moments. I'm going to respond to individual speakers over the next week.
Posted by: brandon on November 10, 2002 12:38 PMSent her the link to texturl (and to jill/txt, as she was interested in the narrative materials); she mentioned that she thought you were the person she'd lunched with.
I suppose I should be amazed by the smallness of the world and its interconnections, but I'm not. :)
This does, however, go a long way towards convincing me that Rochester is a much more interesting place than most people (including its residents) give it credit for.
